Multifamily Retrofit Initiative for Sustainability and Equity (M-RISE)

What is M-RISE?

This program is administered by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) and implemented by Resource Smart as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Home Energy Rebates programs, authorized under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Funded in part by DOE grant funding, the program integrates both the Home Efficiency Rebates (HER) and Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) initiatives to support comprehensive energy efficiency and electrification upgrades in multifamily buildings.

Once fully launched, the program will provide multifamily property owners with technical assistance and robust financial incentives to complete whole-building improvements, including high-efficiency heat pumps, building envelope upgrades, ventilation enhancements, electrical panel and wiring modernization, and installation of efficient electric appliances.
